I'm arguing for principles of freedom re: ideas &opposing restrictions on these. Pro-libertarian &anti-authoritarian *values*
@barrydeutsch -
But deciding not to invite a speaker is not a "restriction" on ideas. There's no right to be an invited speaker at a uni.
-
I am only addressing the times when it is a restriction on ideas! When someone is disinvited because of his *ideas.*
-
I'm not going to keep repeating myself. We've been here. Talking abt ideas.

But according to you, bans have nothing to do with it. You call people authoritarian even without them calling for any bans.
-
And you ARE saying "stop expressing those ideas" - those ideas, in this case, being petitions to dis-invite speakers.

.
@barrydeutsch I make this argument against banning, no-platforming. Other ppl counter that protecting ppl's feelings more important.pic.twitter.com/wWpmSrqN0x

I agree with all of this. I just disagree that someone who has been disinvited from a uni has been denied their right to speak.
-
I'm not sure what you mean. We both know they can speak elsewhere. That's not the point.
