I want to come at the problem from both sides & avoid any movement which focuses on one side only tho I can work with them.
I feel like I need to stand up for myself ... as a woman. To support my own empowerment so that I can earn my place.
Me too! I've said a lot abt women defying expectations. The disempowerment of women is a concern I have with feminism.
yea and when women do defy expectations..it's described weirdly in media. Public attitudes are still rigid on accomplishments
As much as when men do? I think we've come a long way. Normal for women to have careers. Stay at home dads much less so.
Normal for women to have careers but some careers are still "a woman is doing that?" as I said, it's areas/circumstances.
Yes and men who are stay at home dads get called unemployed or losers. Not as normalised as women in professions.
This is helpful to compare coz two sides of same coin. Normalising stay at home dads will also help women advance in careers
it's different. I'm not saying men don't have their own gender/sex battles. They do.
They are different. I see a problem with only focusing on one side tho coz they're often caused by same assumptions.
there's nothing wrong with pointing out the unique problems. Since men and women get shit on from different biases/attitudes
No. I do that. A lot. I don't do it as a feminist or an MRA coz I want to come from both sides for balance.
that's fine. However I don't go out of my way advocating for men. I just do it when something demands my voice. I'm kinda loud
OK but I think its easy to see society as geared towards men OR women if u only look at the problems affecting men OR women.
And that is the attitude I criticise in feminism or the MRM. Not ppl who acknowledge both sides but have a personal focus.
