Sure. Companies can choose to support freedom of expression of not. We can then evaluate the company based on the decisions it makes.https://twitter.com/sherlockmichael/status/807124916239634436 …
We can criticise universities for not hosting radfems, conservatives, Islamists etc but we can't make them do it.

-
a speech at a university may well be the only chance for people to hear different points of view, and would help fight fake news
-
No. People can access the internet at libraries if they cannot afford it at home.
-
they don't though. That's the phenomenon we're seeing. Most people don't seek alternative views
-
Then they probably won't travel to universities for them either. Again, a different issue.
-
my issue is when you don't let creationist and the like talk, they think it's because we can't debate them.Nye vs. Ham was great
-
thousands tuned into that talk, and Ham came off as a complete idiot (which he is)
-
This is why I argue for free speech & representation of diversity of ideas. I don't think we can force ppl to do this.
-
we don't know if it will happen if we don't. Who is victimised by such a law? Companies? They don't need anyone to champion them

why not? Criticising them will never change their mind, and if it really is important to hear perspectives and debate
-
Because its authoritarian & they can't possibly host everything everyone thinks is important.
-
as far as authoritarian goes, I guess it depends on what you think is accepable or necessary. We have to have some laws.
-
Yes, I am talking specifically abt deciding who private companies can & can't host on their shows/stages/social media etc.
-
I think somehow companies have more responsibility than people, because of their potential impact
-
But they might not think so. And if we claim to respect diversity of ideas, we cannot insist they do it our way.
-
at the end of the day, it's a decision as to how many rights we give companies. They already don't have same rights
-
But we're talking abt freedom of expression now. I will advocate it consistently.
