@giles_fraser It is objectively better that parents impose their views on children by insisting they have a narrow education? -
all parents impose their views on their children.
-
"...by insisting they have a narrow education." That was the important bit.
-
.
@giles_fraser Point is what parents impose. Teeth brushing is OK. Genital mutilation, denial of education, medicine, contact w others? No. -
so ok to impose your world view on your kids. But not ok for others to do same if their view different.
-
Why do you say that? I mustnt be allowed to deny my kids a full education, basic bodily integrity & other human rights either.

secular liberalism is a meta-view, a view about views, namely that of anti-imposition
-
but it can still be imposed
-
the imposition of not having things imposed on you? Simply dreadful
-
Nooo. Imposition of being prevented from imposing things on others. No-1 complains of too much freedom for selves
-
freedom overrated moral virtue.
-
You just make assertions.I'm sure you do want to decide your own faith & lifestyle & speech etc? Or shld others do it for you?
-
but it's not all about what I want, not all about individual desire.
-
Course not.Our decisions are based on own needs, families, communities, principles, beliefs etc. Do u want right to make them?
