@UBlasphemist But that requires us to apply cognitive dissonance to the fact we are, for example, talking to a bloke in a frock
-
-
-
Or you could just look at the evidence that gonads, chromosomes & brains don't always match?
-
Don't have to, obv. Can go 'That person looks like a man but is wearing a dress!' *brain explodes*
-
My point is I would enter any such interaction with full intention and desire to act "normally" but there's a risk I would fail
-
That's all you can do. People who berate those who fail & use a wrong pronoun or look momentarily confused hold back progress
-
Also jokes about them in public life shud be fair game too. Afterall, we all know a bloke in a frock will always be a bit funny
-
They shouldn't be punished. Other people can think you're a twat tho.
-
Of course not punished. But humour is blind. Funny is just funny.

@UBlasphemist I have immense compassion in the same way I have immense compassion for all those w/mental disorders -
Don't you have to ignore a lot of brain studies or only read ideological ones to think no biological basis?
-
I don't deny biological basis. Schizophrenia also is biological, but should we act like hearing voices is perfectly OK?
-
No, we shld treat it. I don't think trans ppl deny that they have gender dysphoria. That's why so many seek surgery.
-
Perhaps if brains cld be made to match bodies rather than other round, ppl wld go for that. Prob not tho cos brain is *self*

@UBlasphemist Can I still be considered a trans ally while also still believing it's a mental disorder? -
Not really. You could support their rights tho.
-
Yes, i certainly do. Really want what's best for them. Just not sure our current route is

Because trans activists make us wary to talk to them or about them? Too dangerous?
