When did ageism switch from being discrimination against older workers etc to not accepting that millennials know best about everything?

I was said to be privileged as a young woman whilst older women were discriminated against. Now I'm getting older,I'm the privileged 1 again

Seems I spent my youth listening to & promoting the value of older feminists. Now younger ones tell me to shut up & listen to them.

There used to be an idea no-one listened to older women. They became invisible as youth & beauty faded. That was the feminist view then.

Therefore lots of talk of young feminists listening to their older sisters & using their youth privilege to highlight their wisdom.

That's gone. Now I get told I'm a 'confused middle-aged woman who doesn't know how society works' & I need to sit down & listen.

I don't actually care that much. If the kind of ppl who tell me I know nothing & shld shut up thought well of me, I'd be far more worried.

Its just interesting. I've also noticed that when I was a kid, we mostly did what adults wanted to. Now the norm seems to be what kids want.

I had a few years in my 20s where I had the kind of holidays & outings I liked. XD
