I was said to be privileged as a young woman whilst older women were discriminated against. Now I'm getting older,I'm the privileged 1 again

Seems I spent my youth listening to & promoting the value of older feminists. Now younger ones tell me to shut up & listen to them.

There used to be an idea no-one listened to older women. They became invisible as youth & beauty faded. That was the feminist view then.

Therefore lots of talk of young feminists listening to their older sisters & using their youth privilege to highlight their wisdom.

Maybe I am naif, but would it be an option to just evaluate the arguments and not care too much about the age of who makes them?

I'd say if someone uses age as a weapon, any age, point out the fallacy, and if they insist, don't bother.

Generalized, ageism it's an ad hominem. Does not get far in a discussion.

No. I think there can be prejudice against people based on age but I don't buy the whole privilege thing generally.

If you are referring to the infamous 'shut up, you're privileged' argument, that's an ad hominem too, variant guilt.
