What silence? What community? Some atheists like 'New Atheists' & some don't.I do. We don't share a belief system or tenets.

Obviously atheists and "New Atheists" share the same belief (their disbelief) but are not the same (see my house parallel).

You don't think a lack of faith and an opposition to faith are the same and neither do I. So what are we arguing about?

Why are they both called atheism? Dawkins is called an atheist, not an anti-theist while the latter is more correct.

You do not think this correctness is important while in real life it does. The most vocal determines the label & that's Dawkins.

You and many atheists do not care. But at the same thing don't really like the public image of atheism. It's one or the other.

I am not part of a tribe called 'atheism' - people can evaluate me on my own actions and values.

Atheist describes my position on the existence of god. Anti-theist, my attitude towards god-beliefs. Humanist, my values

And so on. Ppl are multifaceted. We share some facets and not others. You share atheism & humanism w me but not anti-theism

It is tribal to want to separate ppl into one primary identity & get one group to condemn another.

We are a social species who live in groups. Call it "tribal" if you want it (IMO tribal refers to a set of ethnic clan-thinking)

Groups are not used to condemn but to properly name and categorize people. I do not believe in this whole relativism of yours.

If you're anti-theistic, you are by definition also atheist so you don't require stating the latter. Same for humanist.

You don't require stating any of them ever. An atheist is what someone is in relation to belief or disbelief in gods.

An anti-theist is what someone is in relation to opinion of belief in gods. Its relevant to use those terms at diff times.

The only rationale for arguing for describing someone as one or the other is to distinguish tribes.

In order to show diversity. Momentarily, atheism is losing because people do not identify themselves with the anti-theism.
