I thought you were referring to the abstract realm of the soul, not the real political world.
So is someone who thinks it's good for God to punish wrongthink open in a way that would fit with libertarianism?
-
-
Well if they do believe that and are open, they would be tolerant of other beliefs, and would be able to change that belief
-
We're talking abt their own belief that a God who punishes wrongthink is doing the right thing morally.
-
Obv many libertarians don't believe in this kind of God or don't think abt or justify hell for ppl with different views.
-
But I'm thinking abt some I've met who do & what this means.
-
... and don't want it legislating a different morality than they believe in.
-
But they defend the rights of ppl to live by different moral codes in real life.
-
Yes because it's a compromise that leaves them with the freedom they want.
-
A pragmatic thing to achieve own ends rather than a philosophical & moral commitment to freedom?

A closed personality would find it very difficult or impossible to change that belief
-
OK so does that mean that libertarians who believe this are not really libertarians or that libertarians not always open?
-
But I don't know this for sure, I'm just thinking out loud
-
I don't know either. It's inconsistent. But I'm logging out of my account for a week now.
-
Thanks for the conversation, hope you're back soon!
