Its both telling & worrying when people genuinely don't understand why anyone would want to talk to someone who sees things differently.

I'm a person who likes to argue but not for its own sake. Never understood 'debate' & 'rhetoric' grps where ur given something to argue for.

Experimentally arguing for the view opposite to your own on an issue can certainly be very useful but that's diff to arguing for sake of it

The pleasure of arguing is in testing & further refining your own ideas & your own skill at explaining them in response to different ones.

That's the fun bit of it anyway. The practical bit is the changing of positions, the other persons or your own.
