I hate the tendency to accuse ppl of hero-worship rather than address the reasons the person is arguing someone else to be right.

I was once accused of thinking Peter Boghossian was God coz I quoted him a lot whilst correcting someone misrepresenting Street Epistemology

Mostly I object to ppl assigning a whole collection of values to ppl based on one thing they said. These ppl are usually tribal themselves.

I used to be part of a moral community who did this & got sick of an expectation to approve & disapprove specific sets of ppl & ideas.

It took a while tho. I feel the tribal impulse. I like belonging somewhere and things being simple.

Yes. Not necessary to agree with them in everything to accept that they are experts in their fields.
