So glad I have finally persuaded the husband into getting a boa constrictor. We couldnt have got a baby if we'd left it much longer.

He should be with us until our early 70s. That's reasonable. I don't see sheltered housing or care homes accommodating boa constrictors.

I've been researching more thoroughly.Seems I favour the 'purest' subspecies - Boa constrictor constrictor. Am I a supremacist of some kind?

      I didn't realise how sexually dimorphic they are. Fully grown males - 6 ft & 15lbs. Fully grown females - 8 ft & 50lbs.

They were the lengths of my pair but I don't think she was that heavy. Still tricky to manage tho. & stroppy. I prefer males. #CasualSexism

My male boa was compliant & docile. I could put him round my waist & he'd stay there happily. All day. An unobtrusive ongoing cuddle.

Not my female. Try that with her & she'd immediately become a yardstick & lunge at furniture in an escape bid. And then hide. Which was hard

My boy boa didn't hide. Which is unusual. If not round my waist or in his tank, he'd curl up on the sofa like a cat.

I must be careful not to expect Erebus to be a replica of him. I'm unlikely to find another boa so easy-going & loving of human company.

I lied. The selection process will be fun. The plan is to wave my hand over them & pick one of the ones that doesn't strike at it.

If there is one who displays no defensive body-language & is interested in me, this will the true heir of my lovely Chaos - Erebus.

Erebus will be in our bedroom. The only way my adopted daughter will come round is if I can guarantee she'll never see him.
