Twitter is private. It's not a public space.

The fact that Twitter *can* choose to ban ppl doesn't mean we can't criticise them for doing so.

I'm in favour of Twitter leaving bigoted ppl to speak so I can argue with them & to defend my own free speech.pic.twitter.com/tgcD6EdZ5V

Does it violate the principle of FS for a group of scientists to ban creationists from a private conference?

Yes. A private conference on science would not include free speech. Nor do I argue that it shld. Its a private conference.

I am arguing for free speech on Twitter as an open forum for ppl to speak to anyone who chooses to follow them.

Oh, so there are caveats to this principle of freedom of speech. What if they employ a popular hashtag?

Yes! Its not suitable everywhere! I'd argue for ppl to be able to talk abt anal sex on Twitter. Not in a primary school.

If there are certain subjects that are taboo (children aside), white supremacy has to be one of them.

You would prefer Twitter not to be a place all subjects should be discussed. You think some views should be off-limits to it.

These are two positions probably with the same aim - opposing racism. We shld (and do) accept each other to be well-motivated

I worry that driving such talk underground makes it harder to counter or to reach people getting sucked into it.
