My parents had a view on marriage/family only. If I was gay they'd have loved me regardless.
-
Hopefully, it wld have changed their minds when they realised they wanted you to have same rights as everyone else
-
I understand arguments/frustrations from all sides. It's the nuances that are difficult to express in 140 characters.
-
I can see that ppl who'd deny ppl rights coz race, gender, sexuality can be good ppl otherwise &well-intentioned 1/2
-
But there's not much nuance in the argument for doing so if you value human rights, equality & freedom.
-
I don't disagree with those ideals necessarily. But, unfettered human rights, equality & freedom is unrealistic.
-
Well, they're not unfettered. Equality is qualified as equal opportunities & rights for ppl of all races, genders & sexualities
-
Which I support in principle, but they do threw up difficulties in everyday interpretation and implementation. Equal pay?
