      7) Penalty for saying 'fuck off' or similar swear words is 1 detention so a weeks worth w threat of expulsion for 'slut' is disproportionate

I would say it's the sexually implication rather than swearing, even if it is lost on the students

I don't think they know its meant to be traumatising coz they've not yet been taught that girls/women can't cope with this.

Proportion. Make it clear it can be particularly hurtful insult w/out implying girls 'honour' all tied up in chastity

but isn't that the reason why it's particularly hurtful? @micvicster

I agree, but how can u impart a sense of why it's so hurtful w/out seeming to be buying into "honour in chastity" @micvicster

through discussion and being open. I don't think I buy into honour of chastity at all. It is just a sexual slur

Women can be affected by hearing a rude joke or a comment abt a woman's sexual attractiveness etc. Getting v neurotic.

We don't know. Other insults he threw at the girls have been much more in keeping with teasing but he is a bully.

Again, situational. A child shld not have to cope with being called slut repeatedly & with intent to hurt but 1/2

ideally would be able to cope with it as 1 random insult without feeling traumatised & unable to go back to school.

Most situations will fall between systematic & constant bullying & 1 episode of a nasty word used w/out spite.
