1) Interesting & encouraging thing happened at my daughter's school. 12 yr old boy called a girl a 'slut' & consequences were rather severe.

I guess they do now.
@micvicster -
they know by now about sex and is it better to stop it now rather than later?I've 2 girls and unsure what to think
-
Proportion. Make it clear it can be particularly hurtful insult w/out implying girls 'honour' all tied up in chastity
-
but isn't that the reason why it's particularly hurtful?
@micvicster -
Yes! So stop perpetuating it. Women feeling alienated by shirts with semi-clad cartoon women on, ffs!
-
I agree, but how can u impart a sense of why it's so hurtful w/out seeming to be buying into "honour in chastity"
@micvicster -
Carefully! I don't know the answer. Chicken and egg. Perhaps focus more on not making sexual slurs at anyone.
-
y not say u don't see any justification for considering it so hurtful. That it is an absurd word to use as insult?

as ever Common sense is always worth being used, but schools are criticised for inconsistency and so dawned if they do or dont
-
I'd like them to be more consistent re gender. I worry its disempowering for girls to be told they can't cope with sexuality.
-
Obv, verbal abuse of a sexual nature is not to be tolerated just as other hurtful forms of bullying is not but proportionately.
