okay. So how does one deal with racists in the family, workplace, etc?
-
-
-
Generally, if someone is judging others by race, I point out why I don't think that works/is fair or kind
-
that's very nice, but the vitriol of racist abuse makes that reason v hard
-
Sure but now we've moved to vitriolic racist abuse which is far end of the scale.
-
When ppl speak of racism, its anything from 'microaggressions' to wanting to deny ppl rights.
-
and some people refuse to believe racism of any kind exists, except against whites.
-
Yes. These people are unambiguously wrong & easy to refute.
-
but not change their minds. Believe me, I've tried. Their response is media bias, "I've never seen that," or what about this?

This doesn't say "shame" or "hector." Are we really not even to "confront" bigotry amongst our own friends and family now?
-
Of course we are. There's been loads of that. Seems its why the polls were so wrong. Ppl afraid to say what they really think
-
Perhaps I was uncharitable & by 'confront' writer meant 'sympathetic listening & dialogue' but tone of piece suggests not
-
Prob right. But to me prob is normalizing attitudes that literally want to take peoples rights away by saying be nice and listen
-
Hey, be nice to the guy calling the bullied gay kid a "triggered snowflake!" Can't hurt his feelings or he'll get even meaner!
-
Not that you are saying this, but I'm seeing it a lot. And I say fuck that guy. And we should all say it to his face.
-
That would satisfy your anger but further entrench the problem you want to overcome.
-
Why is he mistaking bullied gay kid for triggered snowflake? Cld you be mistaking triggered snowflake for bullied gay kid?
