Celestine V was a terrible pope. Turns out being devoted to God & private contemplation isn't great for running an international corporation

After five months, he attempted to resign & ran away to resume being a hermit. They locked him up in a cell. It was probably a relief.

So the moral of this anecdote is that world leaders need a passion for leadership & a strong streak of pragmatism as well as principles.
