Hardly. Intent is key; and clearly this person intended to cause harm. Western society takes a dim view of this.

@Reislaufer Yes but harming yourself in the effort to harm others is one thing. Use of minimum force in self-defence is another. -
By legal standards, a minimum of force was used; no weapon, single strike, immediate neutralization.
