Yesterday, I met someone whose balanced thoughtfulness & reason I have always thought well of who said all criticism of Clinton is misogyny

or has elements of it. What I actually said was 'Really?' and sat there with my mouth open. Here's what I should have said:
-
"No. This kind of attitude is well-meaning but comes from a form of feminism that disempowers women.
-
It reduces women to gender & forgets that women are intelligent people who have serious & important ideas all of which can be criticised.
-
To say criticism of Clinton all about her gender discounts the possibility that she has ever said or done anything worth evaluating.
-
Furthermore, 'All criticism of Clinton includes a misogynistic element' necessarily means 'All criticism of Clinton' is bad. Don't do it.'
-
If someone can not be criticised, that person can not be the president of a vast & powerful democracy.
-
To say that any criticism of a woman's work is misogyny doesn't promote women's equality. It invalidates us as serious & influential people.
-
Unless you genuinely think that women can never be wrong about anything (in which case you're mad) you are advocating humouring us.
-
Please don't do that. Treat us like normal people. I still have a huge amount of respect for this bloke, btw, but do wish I'd said that! XD
