They move fast enough when hungry! If not, they've been known to let rats gnaw them.

Not usually but if a boa is striking rather than constricting & a rat is fighting back, snake can still lose. Evenly matched

I love snakes but when Chaos (my favourite) died & I had to go into hospital for 6 months, rest got rehomed. :(
