Christian cousin & I very close. She feels it would be dismissive of my views to say 'God bless' to me as she does to every1 else on leaving

I find it very poignant that what she swaps in is 'love you.' "God bless, Mo. God bless, Bob. Love you, Helen."

Is this what happens when you take religion out of the equation? You get down to saying what really matters?

Also worth remembering that when a Christian says 'God bless' they might just be telling you they care rather than asserting God's existence

I'm never unhappy to receive a 'God bless' despite my (lack of) belief. I have an internal translation mechanism.

Also enjoy church services. Once asked whether I was a different denomination when say alone on pew during communion. "Umm yes".

Me too! But I say "I'm not Christian but I do enjoy services & Christians are always so welcoming." That works too.

Have been swayed somewhat of late toward views of a less tolerant atheist friend on some aspects. I'm now less apologetic.
