Do there exist people who tell themselves 'There's no point worrying about this' and then, having established this, actually don't?

Maybe there are but I'm fairly sure no-one who's ever been told *by someone else* that there's no point worrying has ever found this helpful

Perhaps 'there's no point in worrying abt it' is just a polite way of saying 'can you shut up abt it now, please?" Which is fair enough.

I take it as that, basically "I don't want to hear what you care about"

Could be but I think it can be OK to set that boundary. Depends where & what kind of relationship you have.

I agree, would prefer they just say "I don't want to hear it, I don't care", seems more honest imo. I translate it to that NEway

But we do have these codes & I think it can be OK to hint that the other person is going on a bit too much, past what is helpful

Christians learn to give worries to God. Philippians 4:6-8.
