I so often get a shock when I watch or listen to people I follow on Twitter because I read you all in an English accent!

Oh. I just realized that I have been reading you with an American accent all this time.
-
Worst example was Peter Boghossian's Manual. I didn't realise I'd constructed this quite muted English voice!
-
Second time I listened to him read it & it was this very emphatic, ironic American. Like a different book! Do you do this too?
-
Hard to say. For a long time I didn't even know how the words I read would sound like, so I never had a mind-accent for them.
-
But now you kind of "sound" like the british(?) girl in my office. Which is unfortunate. I understand ~ half of her words.
-
(to be fair, a good chunk of what I don't understand is just because she's way more knowledgeable than me, and not 4 the accent)

Its appalling how ignorant I am of 20th century history. It was a rather eventful one! I must remedy this.
