RE is compulsory at ks4 but an exam isn't. My daughters' school offers "short course" 'RE = 1/2 a gcse, or full gcse.

Not by the curriculum, no, but school could make it de facto compulsory by the way they arrange things.

Also seems that you have the right to exclude a child from R.E. lessons.

Its not compulsory by curriculum but schools can arrange things so it is.

It was compulsary for us, but only a "half GCSE"... Would be nice if it merged into philosophy by GCSE. That I could get behind.
