Disciplining children is not about teaching them methods for dealing with conflicts as adults. Its about giving them boundaries.

Yes. And I would argue that it's a bad idea to teach them (without intending to) that boundaries can be set with violence.

But boundaries can be set by taking ppl's stuff (theft) and confining them indoors (kidnapping)? No. The logic doesn't work.

The way we discipline children necessarily involves providing negative consequences that wld be abusive/illegal if done to adults.

There are good arguments against corporal punishment but 'we wouldn't want them to learn to do it to others as adults' isn't one.
