Don't believe in hitting kids but 'coz its illegal to hit adults' doesn't work.Illegal to take adults stuff away or confine them 2 house too
But boundaries can be set by taking ppl's stuff (theft) and confining them indoors (kidnapping)? No. The logic doesn't work.

The way we discipline children necessarily involves providing negative consequences that wld be abusive/illegal if done to adults.
-
There are good arguments against corporal punishment but 'we wouldn't want them to learn to do it to others as adults' isn't one.

Theft and kidnapping are not violence. I would argue there's a semantic gulf there.
-
Is violence a worse crime? How would sentencing see it? Wld teaching kids to take other ppl's stuff & lock them up be better?
-
It wouldn't be.But it doesn't work like that. You cld argue that hitting is often aggression that kids can learn but it needn't be.
-
Its simply the 'Don't hit kids because its illegal to do it to adults' arg that doesn't work. Many others do.
-
Yes. You are correct. This is why I felt like making a different argument.
