The feminist *claims* I mentioned - UK & US are patriarchies & gender is cultural construct - are not worthwhile because they're not *true.* https://twitter.com/SnarkyFieds/status/788749468090961920 …

Patriarchy means a system in which men power to control women or have access to power & women are excluded from it.
-
We have a society in which both sexes have access to everything but men & women face different disadvantages socially.
-
OK, men are legally disadvantaged in having right to genital integrity & the draft which shldn't be underestimated but re: power?
-
Women have disadvantages due to pregnancy & being weaker physically & some pressures re: motherhood, appearance, sexuality etc
-
Men have some lesser biological disadvantages & different social pressures - be strong, be successful, less time with children etc
-
there are also people like Brock Turner that are acquitted of rape or get light sentences by real sexist judges
-
Did the judge have power 2 give a longer sentence? Is it not a fact that the people who get off most lightly re sex crime are women?
-
Again, we need rigorous examination. Ppl just look at acquittal rates and see sexism.

so unless it's legislated it doesn't count? What about cultural influences? Sometimes those are more potent
-
It counts loads! Its just not patriarchy. Patriarchy has a specific meaning.
-
so what do you call a movement that focuses on fighting culturally for women's rights more because they are more disadvantaged?
-
You can call it whatever you want. Generally people who come at it from women's perspective are called feminists in the west.

You are defining it narrowly and idiosyncratically. Ownership of property GIVES legal +1 right to subtly discriminate
