@HPluckrose By the same token, though, referring to doing so as "toxic masculinity" is the converse error.

I'm not sure. I think toxic masculinity>being XY as Islamofascism>being Muslim.

Not sure I understand - that's a bit too compressed! U mean u object 2 talk of tox. m. less than of Islamofascism?

I meant toxic masc is 2 being male what Islamofascism is 2 being Muslim, i.e. an evil perversion of some aspects

Ah, OK. I think one problem with that is that people can't choose their sex/gender. It's not a body of ideas.

Telling some1 their religion = nonsense might be insensitive, but not like telling them their entire sex is corrupt.

The key is in the word "toxic". Nothing wrong with masculinity. Just specific toxic excesses.

So how would you feel about a behaviour "coded" as feminine being described as "toxic femininity"?

Say - off top of my head - a skill, and penchant, among some women for psychological manipulation (e.g. Heathers)?

I wouldn't. She's hyper-feminine? Toxic-feminine? All women have this but this is too much or twisted?

Not sure what you mean. I was saying that saying a bad behaviour is an aspect of femininity is a problem.

Doesn't require denying that gender differences in bad behaviour exist. Just not suggesting its gender ID itself.

Instead we cd just say men's greater propensity 2 violence. We r still talking statistics not individs.
