It leads to this ends-justify-the-means behavior where all self-correction and honesty are totally lost. Only narrative matters.

I view that as a form of incompetence, like all dishonesty. Eye of the beholder I suppose. I choose pragmatism.

But thats probably because its hard for me to divorce my own principles that I *think* I can reach pragmatically.

Yeah there's some scope to its definition but when it values effect over truth it's at least potentially a problem.
