The idea that people should shut up about their own political views after being outvoted is democratic, apparently. https://twitter.com/RupertMyers/status/786066490093137920 …

The deeper point is valid. It is dangerous to incite action in parliament to overturn the referendum result.

There is potential for breaking the social contract between individual and state, potential to stir violent politics.

Violence is not a good reason. If remainers were threatening to riot if Brexit went ahead, not a good reason not to.

But yes, if gov said referendum was a decider rather than an opinion poll, it shld stick to it. We can still point out problems.

Oh by all means talk out the problems, and even argue for rejoining after Brexit has been carried out. But no incitement.

I'll let people talk abt the legalities & whether referendum should stand.

I gather it will be tested in the courts, but I see little chance of the courts overturning it.

Yes, it does look as if Brexit of some description is going to happen. Whether that leads to good or bad is up to us as a nation

Doubtful. We as a nation can't decide how Europe deals with us. My job & my husbands both rely on the EU. Can't fix that.

We as a nation are responsible for our collective future. Just as we would still have been if we had voted to remain.

No. We're part of the world. The rest of it also has a big impact on our future.

That is a different point. The Greek people are responsible for Greece. Germans for Germany. We are for the UK.

Its the point I'm making. Our future depends very much on the relationship with the rest of the world. The referendum changes that

Saying we are responsible for our own future in relation to a discussion abt leaving the EU ignores the issue of consequences.
