The idea that people should shut up about their own political views after being outvoted is democratic, apparently. https://twitter.com/RupertMyers/status/786066490093137920 …
Don't know extent of it. Number of ppl googling 'What is the EU" & "What does leaving the EU mean" afterwards was worrying.

I think there was an argument for a second referendum to be sure it represented the will of the people.
-
An argument along those lines can be made, but unlikely to be successful in real world - we don't re-run close elections.
-
No but this is a referendum abt something that will change things possibly forever.

Thankfully we do not conduct our democratic business through google search result data. ;)
-
No, it just suggests ppl didn't know what they were voting for but might actually research it if they know it cld actually happen
-
Again I refer you to how our elections work. We do not restrict the franchise to the well educated and informed.
-
Not suggesting that. Suggesting 2nd referendum reasonable argument coz of evidence ppl researched it afterwards.
-
People researched all kinds of things afterwards. It has no relevance. We don't run our democracy through Google's data.
-
I'm not suggesting we do. I;'m suggesting there was reason to think a 2nd referendum might have shown a different will of ppl.
-
Maybe it wouldn't have but it was a reasonable argument to make.
