The sheer fact that there's a #NoHijabDay makes me disgusted by the world we live in today..

See thats where you're wrong, Is following what your religion abides you to do being oppressed ??
-
1) Many Muslims don't think hijab is required - just prophet's wives. 2) Iran demands this of non-Muslims.
-
3) If Islam does require gender-specific modesty codes, this would seem to contradict with the whole 'Allah is just' thing.

You don't need to put the blame on the Hijab but the men in Iran and the laws they make to oppress women.
-
I don't blame a piece of cloth. I blame people, men & women, who perpetuate ideas abt hijab=modesty=virtuous.
-
THE HIJAB IS FOR MODESTY NOT TO OPRESS WOMEN. I FEEL OPRESSED WHEN PEOPLE TELL ME ITS FOR OPPRESSION
-
Deal with it. Other women are legally forced, shamed & pressured into wearing it. They can criticise modesty codes.
-
Well you can take that up with the Iranian government and Muslim extremists not Islam.
-
Is that credible?
-
Is what credible? Its an argument to support liberal Muslims. Do you doubt the stats on acceptance of homosexuality?

Today modesty is viewed as a sign of weakness and insecurity when in fact modesty is a sign of dignity n self-respect
-
I agree. I just don't think it has anything to do with clothes. I do not think I am immodest coz I don't wear one.
-
No one said you are. Just don't sit there and tell me the hijab isn't for modesty
-
I'm not! I think it is about modesty! But that that's a bad thing! Making modesty abt what women wear.
-
being told to have more self respect for yourself isn't oppression , having more dignity for yourself isn't oppression
