Folks often miss sarcasm in print
Is it sarcasm? Or is it this which I was just thinking about.https://twitter.com/HPluckrose/status/783855252462309377 …

maybe I was wrong about it being sarcasm. But put
@peterboghossian's words in the mouth of say JoelOlsteen or Trump or some SJW. -
It'd still be true in context tho we might wish they had better judgement about who to respect.
-
Let's say that someone uses Peter's exact words about their lack of respect for the opinions of say Richard Dawkins on religion.
-
They'd be being honest. We might think they shld respect him but if they don't, his opinion will have no weight.
-
Ok say that someone uses Peter's words abt their lack of respect for the opinions of say Richard Dawkins on *evolution*
-
It would still be true. They are only considering the opinions of ppl they respect & everything else irrelevant.
-
To make doing this a good thing, you'd need a good criteria for respecting ppl's thinking. That's what Peter's all abt really.
-
I doubt very much it means "everyone shld only listen to ppl they respect whatever their criteria for doing so"

In context of how much we shld care abt good opinion of others. There are some ppl's I'd much rather not have.
