I'm not sure if this is true and I think there's a strong cognitive bias to equate intractably complex values like this.

There is but I don't think I'm guilty of it. I just look at the Muslim world & Christian world from 1300-1700.

But they simply cannot be exactly the same. These values are incredibly complex and hard to contrast.

I don't mean same amount of blood has been spilt. Think Xtianity still ahead on that but cld be wrong.

I mean same consequences for going against religion. Much, much death & Islam not doing anything Xtianity hasn't done.

Genital mutilation. There's been a little of that in Christianity but mostly not. That's one thing Islam doing differently.

Yeah, there are an incredible number of factors which makes any claims about them being perfectly equal unlikely.

But I think we'd need to better define what we mean by the intrinsic harmfulness of the religion to converge here.

I'd say it doesn't have one because it varies from age to age. What its actually caused is more to the point.

Islam not peaceful at beginning, tho it was welcomed as social improvement for many poor & enslaved non-Muslims at the time.

Never got very peaceful tho was more tolerant of other Abrahamic faiths for much of its history, is the least peaceful now.

But we aren't talking about how harmful Christians have been but rather how harmful traits intrinsic to the religion are right?

No. I am talking abt how harmful Christianity has been. I don't think stable enough to have 'intrinsic traits.'

Xtianity can be and has been utterly peaceful or kill anyone who isn't the right kind of Xtian and so can Islam.
