I think ppl who think trans ppl are wrong abt their gender (doesn't sound like he does) are mistaken. Doesn't make them bigots.

How does 0.01% of pop asking to be addressed as ‘they’ undermine anything here? Are they saying NO ONE shld use gender pronouns?
-
I suppose that's why it depends on the nature of the accommodation.
-
Right. I guess I don’t see any big ‘price’ to addressing a tiny minority using a pronoun they feel that fits them.
-
Me neither but I support the right not to be forced to use certain words.
-
there seems to be this weird impulse to ‘refuse to acknowledge’ a person’s identity that _isn’t_ based on ‘science’
-
Absolutely there is. There's mean-spirited point-making as well as beliefs abt gender that make trans impose & free speech issues.
-
I think the common denominator here is the ‘imposing' mindset
-
Autocorrect changed imposs to impose. Was talking abt ppl who believe there is only sex & its chromosomes & genitals.

I totally agree w JP re: dangerousness of vague laws here, but I don’t get thispic.twitter.com/7XcBJGltja

We don't have to get rid of male & female to accommodate ppl who don't feel either? Many ppl like male/female complement/binary.
-
Of course we dont. But arent these ppl only asking that _they_be addressed that way? Or are they advocating getting RID of them?
-
Most ppl do but others want to undermine the whole binary. Radfems strongest example tho they have opposite endgoal. 1/2
-
Otherwise in intersectionalism, there's a drive to oppose binary gender as a concept, call cis women 'non-men' etc

You shouldn't have to if you don't want to. Just can't stand policing speech legally or otherwise
