It's not social. No human society exists where men are caretaker and woman are the breadwinner.
Men & women have different strengths & interests in different degrees. The public sphere has jobs which call on all of them.

If all women decided that breadwinning was not suited to them tomorrow, it'd be catastrophic for hospitals & schools.

1. How many of those woman have children below a age where they can't take care of themselves.
-
2. If all woman who have kids would leave the workforce for just ? year, the effect would be raised wages for all other employee
-
So again, the issue is not abt it being against human nature for women to be breadwinners. Its abt what's best for very small kids
-
Both reasons. but again. No human society has been recorded were Men are the caretaker and woman are the breadwinners
-
generally of course . im sure you can find individual exceptions
-
Take Maxim Gorky "Mother" for instance. Even though the protagonists raises/provides for her kid herself. This was not the norm
-
I'm not claiming its ever been the norm for women to be main breadwinners. Suggesting its not unnatural if we do that now we can.
