people already talk to each other, people use phones. trains aren't designed to be silent places.
No, I can't. Its a bit better if the person is not speaking English cos then I don't follow it & can still focus on the book.

I get it. you like to read your book in silence and somehow feel a tube ride is a silent zone to facilitate that. it isn't.

Ideally but if this is a much longer time, people will need interaction so I'll deal with it.

there is no difference. you don't know how long the passengers are on the tube/train for.
