But I am only beginning research & am not at all sure where I'm going. Have previously stuck to C14 & 15.

Crusades my specialism! Happy to help if you want it!
-
Thank you! I've tended to look at how women used religious narratives to negotiate authority & autonomy for selves. 1300-1700
-
Which is not to suggest they were not sincere. I usually end up arguing against ppl who see religion merely as a code.
-
Ha. So do I! You see sincerity in medieval 12th and 13th century heresy all the time.

It's all so rich in detail, beauty and potential! Worth reading Imad al-din al Ifshani and Usama Ibn Munqidh on Christian women!
-
Thanks! Added to desirable bibliography. I'm likely to focus on Christian narratives by or about women re: crusades.
-

-
English women, definitely, but I don't know yet.Taking a year to find something I can commit to for PhD. Very early days.
-
I'm plunging in & reading everything that looks interesting for now. Will narrow focus after Xmas. What are you looking at?
-
My MA dissertation focused on second and third generation Christian settlers born into the Kingdom during 1174-1187...
-
Ooh! Interesting!

I was supposed to add, the title was 'The Other in Outremer: Levantine Identity, Politics and Perceptions, 1174 - 1187'.
