I think we shld point out when beliefs inspire criminal behaviour but shld a crime be seen as more or less serious depending what they are?

I don't like religious belief being used as an excuse for criminal behaviour & don't think its shld be considered to make crime worse either

If we say that ppl can believe what they want but not inflict those beliefs on anyone else, its the inflicting not the beliefs we prosecute.

it's bit more complex when the religious belief system includes explicit instruction to inflict the beliefs on others (many do)

thankfully many modern religious practitioners ignore encouragement/requirements to spread or preach their faith if unsolicited

I think we should point out the religious texts which justify criminal behaviour.

agree. Religion can be seen as a higher law than government, making religious belief a unique factor in motivating crime
