Someone on FB is arguing that the word 'Islamophobia' is an ableist slur which diminishes the experiences of ppl who suffer genuine phobias.

But I'd never use 'nuts', 'bonkers' etc to describe someone who's actually mentally ill. I'd say these words have evolved too.

Exactly. When accused of casual ableism for use of word 'crazy', I've said mentally ill are not crazy. They're mentally ill.

I got accused of ableism for saying Trump was crazy rather than mentally ill. Surely latter more offensive to the mentally ill!
