I am getting a very strange response to saying that British children whose parents took them to ISIS need to be brought home to safety & their parents locked up. The response is "No, because their parents meant to do that to them. The parents just have to live with it."

This doesn't seem to apply in any other case. When we learnt that Baby Peter & Victoria Climbie had been systematically tortured & eventually murdered, no-one said "Yeah, but their parents meant to do that. The parents just have to live with their children being hurt & killed."

Obviously, there are parents who are quite happy to live with their decisions to neglect, abuse, beat, rape, torture & sell their children into paedophile rings. Society has the responsibility to try to stop them from doing any of that & protect the rights of the children

Argh. It only posted part of my thread and still won't let me post the rest for some reason. I found it in drafts tho. Here it is: Bloody hell, I do go on.pic.twitter.com/sXn0HhnQr8

That’s a total cop out, firstly you bring them home - the children, then you lock up their parents & defence barristers & human rights groups have a field day because you’re breaking up the family nucleus & “all families should be kept together” argument. Leave them there..

Leave the parents is my stance. Bring the children back and find homes for them. I found Helen's arguments on that front convincing.

Why?.....🤷🏻‍♂️ If the children were born there, why bring them back? Their not #British citizens are they? Leave them in Syria/Iraq with their parents.

Maybe a lot of them are Americans like me? I found your reasoning for your stance convincing, and it seemed in line with British law as well. Truth be told, it's the right moral stance (as I was raised). It was not "suffer the children except those of wannabe terrorists..."

That is such an appalling response to a perfectly reasonable ramification. Jesus.

That sucks. I'd feed the parents into a wood chipper myself, but those poor kids never stood a chance.

There's no good reason to bring those kids back to civilization. Genetics is a thing. Keep them out of the pool.
