Age & generation, as well as chronic illness, are separate but similar issues. Generational bravado, well... self-made people that worked their lives have opinions of themselves that doesn't melt. Age & illness are thieves, they steal your independence, your virility, ... 1/2

2/2... It takes time, time people don't have to accept mortality and death. Often, they refuse to see it. Youthful hubris is replaced by the fugue of life (the many masks of adulthood) to be replaced by denial, and then nothing.

Men also get pretty sensitive about the size of their genitals, but they don't behave in neurotic ways as a response. (generally) There are anxiety issues w/ women & appearance that don't exist w/ men & Manliness. (generally)
