Do you seriously object to people being "presumptuous"? If your hoax wasn't a clear example of presumptuous behavior, I don't know what is. Yes, telling people they're wasting their time is presumptuous, and they have no obligation to listen, but it's not wrong to say it.

I'm not sure that makes any sense. I can argue for the value of hoaxes and I'm not sure how presumption comes into it or if it does, why it would be outweigh that. I can also argue against telling other people what they should care about and focus on. Different issues.
