Twitter is making me into a mean person. I can't stop myself from reason policing and Twitter today is: Water is wet. My grandad's called "Walter" My grandad has a sausage dog. I like sausages Oh look, a butterfly. Fuck off, Nazi.

It really is like being surrounded by people who are very very very very very stoned. I refuse to believe this represents the reasoning power of humans. We need to make poor reasoning something to be embarrassed about again. We can't go on like this.

I take offence to that! I'm often very very very very very stoned and I'm never that dumb, well almost never. ;)

Maybe think about it this way: you’re only hearing from those who are sufficiently motivated. If I know anything about human beings, it’s more typical to be quiet, conformist, or simply non-confrontational. You’re interacting with the exception, not the rule.

People aren't embarrassed by it. They've been schooled into their narcissistic mindsets, and until now, anyone who pointed that out was called a "paranoid conspiracy theorist". And for some smarter people, it's about going with the flow of power, sadly.

I'm sorry but refusing to accept reality is denial. Staying in denial isn't going to make reality look any better tomorrow or the day after that.

If you give up twitter, it'll be daytime TV, and it has about the same amount of poor reasoning... though higher production value.

In my experience people that are "very...." stoned remain silent while staring vacuously into space. Hopefully they're not stoned enough, and relief is on the way. If twitter represents reality then we shall all need to further develop our sense of humor, to embrace insanity...

This absolutely does not represent the reasoning power of humans that is because they aren’t reasoning. As you well know people are exponentially more reflexive and social media urges that behavior.

💯 correct that inability to construct arguments for views is the problem; may be effect of social-media tribalism not requiring anyone to develop arguments for what are merely emotionally-binding tribal virtue signals.

I try to remember that a lot of people did not come here initially to voice their opinions, but to see if they could find which opinion to have. That is, they were not very good thinkers in the first place, and simply remained that way after having a strong opinion installed.

I use the power of Lists. Make a list with a mean and insulting title (like "Syria Kooks") and then place Mr and Ms Hoot-Owl Nutzo on said list. They will in 80% of the cases block you, depending on the oomph of the title.
