Trans people can't and #WontBeErased by attempts to define them out of existence. Presidents, however, can have that label removed. You'll need to vote, reasonable & compassionate Americans.

But it is a quite annoying and ambiguous term generally meant to describe the psychological, cognitive & behavioural bits as well as social stuff. Anything that isnt organs, essentially. Its not going anywhere tho. We've always recognised more than organs make us different.
-
Men and women differ psychologically *ON AVERAGE*. Both sexes have a huge variety of personalities, preferences and modes of expression. It is *only* female biology that links all females together and it is *only* male biology that links all males together.
-
Absolutely this. And as soon as you (for some reason) abandon this, the very concepts of sex, male, female etc become incoherent and impossible to objectively define. Why some take is path into erasure of sex and sexuality is boggling and I struggle to understand.
-
It doesn’t mean that being transgender isn’t a valid thing, of course some people are trans and identity as the opposite sex they were born. But there has to be a solid definition of sex for there to be any coherence and peace!
-
There does but we might not know right now exactly how it works. One day we'll probably have it all mapped out re gonads and chromosomes and brains and hormones which are all sexed & be able to plot individuals on them.
-
Sex is indisputable. It’s already mapped out.
-
We're there already, are we? Understanding everything there is to know about biological differences between the sexes? Neuroscience suggests otherwise.
-
That’s more to do with psychology - behaviour and personality though. You can’t truly change sex.

No, we understand male & female innate characteristics overlap psychologically. We understand outliers. But we believe it’s proof that society’s *constructed* notion of gender is too limited to accept fem men & masc women. Possibly this a factor in gender dysphoria?
-
This is by no means universal and people frequently argue to me that it's all a cultural construct. You can try telling trans women they're feminine men but they probably won't agree with you and you'll be unlikely to socialise them into thinking so.
-
People who truly believe they’re the wrong sex tend to be transsexual, but there’s a growing number of people who are comfortable with their genitalia or believe they’re “non binary.” Are these ppl experiencing the same condition at different levels, or completely dif conditions?
-
I have no idea. So much of the science shows trans people not to have divergences from the norm that completely matches the opposite sex. Its just closer to it than the sex indicated by their gonads. Non-binary might actually be more accurate. But this is speculation.
-
I’ve yet to see a fleshed out definition of “non binary”, you can understand how this looks like playing with “identities.” It appears the these identities are considered above sexual orientation too. Does this look ideological to you? It seems postmodern in nature to me.
-
It certainly can be. I see a lot of ideology around it that is postmodern in nature. This can't change the reality of significant differences found in trans people's biology tho. We know ideologues exist who claim trans identity too.
-
One of the best pieces of evidence for that, a geneticist recently told me is that there were always twice as many MtF trans ppl & this seemed in keeping with higher male variability generally. Now there are twice as many girls claiming to be trans & that doesn't make sense.
-
Unless you accept that a lot of what is happening right now is rooted in gender ideology. All the more reason to keep watching the science and hoping to understand this better to avoid misdiagnosis.
