Yes, yes. Often people who follow me for my stuff on Social Justice scholarship & activism are then disappointed to find out that I'm not a fan of religion or that I think Brexit is a terrible idea. We are all made of many ideas. Try to remain calm. Rolling of eyes is fine.

I am a Liberal who hates the Regressive Left and I also happen to think that Brexit was a bad idea. I also do not support holding a referendum again and again until you get the result you want. There are people from both the Right and the Left who doesn't get me!

The idea one can hold a referendum until you get the result you want doesn't work. It's not like tossing a coin. We'll always get the result the voters want. Depends whether we think minds have changed significantly or if there is information to vote on that wasn't there before

You have no right to do that. Abide by the election result.

No, democracy did not stop after you got the result you wanted. We still have the right to discuss whether there is justification for a referendum. You could support that if you're confident Brexit is still the will of the people?

Abstained on Brexit but a second referendum would be a devastating blow for any trust remaining in the political system - a brutal betrayal of the will of the people to back door rig what the elites want. Just get on with it - no takesie backsies.

This isn't a children's game. Democracies do repeal earlier decisions. A referendum will show the will of the people not a back door rig. If it is still to Brexit, we Brexit. In same way, if we'd votes remain but the EU had changed substantially, can be considered again.

That is absolutely not how most remainders are pitching it - is as a way to undo “the stupidity of the plebs.” You already has a vote - and lost - at vast public expense. A second round adds more uncertainty. You want to see riots? Have a second referendum.

"Don't do any more democracy coz otherwise we'll have a tantrum" is no more reasoned a justification than "no takesie backsies." Continue being childish if you wish. I won't hear you but will listen to arguments against a new referendum from grown ups.

Would you support a new referendum if he vote had been this close but the other way? Probably not. Again - I abstained, can see the arguments for leaving or saying either way. The principle of democracy is what matters here.

If the result had been the other way around it should be the same - it was pitched as a once in a lifetime chance to have a voice - in or out. Not a “oh whoops you idiots voted wrong let’s have a do-over”

But having a second vote for brexit doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Its undemocratic to be able to overturn what we voted for in the first place!
