Yes, yes. Often people who follow me for my stuff on Social Justice scholarship & activism are then disappointed to find out that I'm not a fan of religion or that I think Brexit is a terrible idea. We are all made of many ideas. Try to remain calm. Rolling of eyes is fine.

You can't throw away a democratic decision though. as much as you can debate its merits.
-
No, we'd have to change it with another democratic decision. And we'd need to argue out whether there was enough new information or evidence of changed minds to justify this. I am undecided on this and would like to see arguments on both sides.
-
So basically you didn't like the result of the first referendum and you want to ignore the first result and would like to have another referendum...
-
That would be an uncharitable reading. If remain had won but then the EU changed rules or there was reason to think more people, we could talk about whether it was worth asking the people what they wanted again too.
-
I'm open to arguments against a new referendum. Areo published one. I'd need to see strong evidence that minds had changed or that there was enough new info to warrant asking again to support it precisely because I voted the other way & am vulnerable to confirmation bias.
-
Give me one example in a western democracy where a referendum went through the same scrutiny after a decision was made... democratically.

Abstained on Brexit but a second referendum would be a devastating blow for any trust remaining in the political system - a brutal betrayal of the will of the people to back door rig what the elites want. Just get on with it - no takesie backsies.
-
This isn't a children's game. Democracies do repeal earlier decisions. A referendum will show the will of the people not a back door rig. If it is still to Brexit, we Brexit. In same way, if we'd votes remain but the EU had changed substantially, can be considered again.
-
That is absolutely not how most remainders are pitching it - is as a way to undo “the stupidity of the plebs.” You already has a vote - and lost - at vast public expense. A second round adds more uncertainty. You want to see riots? Have a second referendum.
-
"Don't do any more democracy coz otherwise we'll have a tantrum" is no more reasoned a justification than "no takesie backsies." Continue being childish if you wish. I won't hear you but will listen to arguments against a new referendum from grown ups.
-
Would you support a new referendum if he vote had been this close but the other way? Probably not. Again - I abstained, can see the arguments for leaving or saying either way. The principle of democracy is what matters here.

When we have made up our minds we can make up the justifications. And push them down peoples throats using the platform our status and social media has given us. Right?

Feel free to unfollow if you've lost the ability to have a rational conversation about things.

Having a difference of opinion does not mean one shouldn't follow. Either way. And where have I been "irrational"?
