I am so fed up with the argument "Don't address problems on the left coz it feeds the right." It isn't enough to point out the problems on the other side & call people names for voting for them. Isn't this clear yet? To get elected, the left needs to be credible & respectworthy.

It's just terrible psychology to think that acknowledging and addressing problems within your own side makes it appear less credible to the waverers who could be persuaded to vote for it. That's what makes it credible.

I’m sometimes skeptical at the existence of this near robot-like middle group that’s still undecided about whether or not they want to vote for someone who rips families apart at the border and openly incites violence at rallies

And yet you'll have noticed that the Democrats got in last time but the Republicans this time. Clearly people shifted and shifting them back is the only way to win elections and effect change. No reason to think they're robots.

If folks aren’t shifting away from Trump by this point, I’m not sure they ever will.

It's not enough to make liberal speaking points about the problems with the right. There's a need to speak to concerns that trigger conservative moral foundations and also to alleviate fears that the left is dominated by identity politics & won't address any problems with Islam.

Look at why people say they voted Trump this time when they voted Obama last time. They felt that Hillary represented an elite which didn't care about the working class, authoritarian buttons got pushed by the refugee crisis. They felt that identity politics dominated the Left.

“They felt that identity politics dominated the Left.” There’s a reason why they felt that. RW pundits & YouTube talking heads told them, & still do, over & over again. I’m a little cynical of their love bombing of you guys right now unless I see a behaviour change from them.

James told Vox that he is in favor of shutting down identity studies. You all need to get your stories straight

I note the article doesn’t quote his words & you haven’t acknowledged the caveat. It’s not unreasonable to opine that if one can’t tell the difference between their good scholarship & bad how can one trust any of it.

The article does quote him. Do you feel the same in regards to Economic Studies?

Sigh, of course it’s quoted him, but it hasn’t quoted the sentence you’re upset by. And in response to your whataboutism question, the field of economics revealed its huge flaws in 2008 & still hasn’t fixed the problem although ppl are working on it #minsky

If bringing up Economics is whataboutism than this entire study is an exercise in whataboutism.

You’re giving me a headache. You’re illogical in your reasoning, reactionary in attitude, and uncharitable in your critiques. For these reasons I don’t want to discuss this with you anymore.
