I am so fed up with the argument "Don't address problems on the left coz it feeds the right." It isn't enough to point out the problems on the other side & call people names for voting for them. Isn't this clear yet? To get elected, the left needs to be credible & respectworthy.

It's just terrible psychology to think that acknowledging and addressing problems within your own side makes it appear less credible to the waverers who could be persuaded to vote for it. That's what makes it credible.

I’m sometimes skeptical at the existence of this near robot-like middle group that’s still undecided about whether or not they want to vote for someone who rips families apart at the border and openly incites violence at rallies

That’s not judiciously open-minded liberalism. That’s callous indifference to human suffering

So, you think nothing can shift them back so might as well just carry on being insane and let Trump have another term? This isn't helping. I said this on that.pic.twitter.com/hnBEOOWbd2

If this is in fact the path forward to winning back congress and the courts, we’re at minimum 6 years away from it. Using this formula, the left is being held to a much higher standard than is feasibly attainable in the short term. You don’t need perfection to win elections.

I don't see why. The difference is tiny and Trump has been disastrous so far. Any steps towards appearing more reasonable, more concerned about working class issues, less wedded to identity politics, more focus on the policies of Trump & less on name-calling Trumpists cld do it.

Could, probably wouldn’t. You’d lose a lot of votes on the left by abandoning those issues. ID politics are emotionally driven as I’m sure you understand. If Dems went back to focusing more on economic issues the left would completely fissure. Look how many votes 3rd party in 16
